Toe Drag

Toe Drag
  • There are multiple ways you could deke in ice hockey. However one of the more basic dekes is the toe drag.
  • To complete a toe drag you would need the tip of the blad over the puck, once there you would need to drag it back as if it was like a rake. When you're pulling it back make sure to roll the blade back to its original state, or flat position so the puck stops smoothly in front of your blade.

    Shoulder Fake

    Shoulder Fake
  • The most basic deke is called the shoulder fake as you lean one way and go the other.
  • If you have an opponent in front of you, you want to make it look as if you're going one way but soon go the other way. In the gif, you could see Proffesional Ice Hockey Player Sidney Crosby go from his left to write. However, it may look more complex in the gif but since the defender went to that side, Crosby made it look a lot more complex.

    Between the Legs

    Between The Legs
  • Going between the legs is one of the most complex moves you could possibly do in a one-one situation. You would need to time it correctly and fake out the defender or else you get hit. In a worse case scenerio, you could get hit without knowing causing you to possibly blackout or get a concussion. Although in basics, you need to bring the puck behind you on whichever side you're comforatble with, more recommended with your dominant side. Your hands should be more closer together and in that position you pull the puck between your legs. However, in this motion it will be quick as you need to release the puck and bring your stick back in front of you. In the gif, you can see pro Ice Hockey player Alex Ovechkin demonstrate it perfectly.
